I would like to quote a part from the book Thy Rod And Thy Staff They Comfort Me.

From PDF Page 149 "The point is, children learn by following examples, not by punishment. This is by changing our own attitudes and hearts."

And this directly mimics how we are saved by grace through faith. God, our parent, is graceful to us, so we, believe in Christ, and become good like Him.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith

If a man physically punches a man, whether that be on the head, on the buttocks, on the back, they still punched them, they still physically assaulted them. Spanking a child is harmful no matter where you hit or how hard you hit.

1 John 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

We must not physically hurt children. We must not spank or beat children. We are to discipline them so it affects them mentally in a positive way. Instruct them what is good and bad. Give them examples of how to do good.

Proverbs 11:17 A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.

The verse talks about love. We must always discipline a child with love. <3
