1 Tim 1;20 " Of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander,

whom I delivered over to Satan,

that they might be instructed not to speak."

Plus 1 Cor 5;5 " To deliver such a one up to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,

that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

[/quote]

Those verses are indeed interesting.

1 Tim 1:20 seems to show that certain people are delivered to Satan.

But, 1 Cor 5:5 shows that the destruction of the flesh is then followed by the Spirit being saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

This makes sense. The destruction of the flesh would be the natural consequence of sin, a temporary mental punishment. Their Spirit then goes down to Sheol, the realm of the dead, but Jesus has the keys to Sheol, so He can go down and convince them to have faith alone in Him, thus saving them.
